Top 10 Things to Do Before the Show

Everyone! The exhibitor list is posted here, and the attendee list is posted here--please view these in advance, and download the spreadsheets of contact information found on these pages if you’d like to facilitate communication prior to the show. Remember the attendee list is constantly changing, so check back here repeatedly for updates.

Attendees

  1. Register for the show
  2. Book your sleeping room (the room block discount ends September 19) and buy your meal tickets—and drink tickets! (You aren’t a lush; you’re just efficient and avoiding lines later.) Be sure to include a ticket for the Big Buzz lunch, as we won’t be able to sell those onsite
  3. Register for the Sourcebooks and Anderson’s Bookshop tour (limited to the first 50 registrants)
  4. Review the schedule and devise your plan of attack, dividing the sessions among staff as necessary.
  5. Make an IndieCommerce consultation appointment and come prepared with the questions you have for the experts
  6. Collect the small mountain of tote bags you accumulated over the years and recycle them at the show. We will have a receptacle for attendees to leave a tote bag, take a tote bag
  7. Prepare for shipping extra books home. Shipping will be available, but you have to be ready for it. Create a UPS or FedEx account if you don’t have one already and at the very least, be sure to bring your number. To make your shipping even easier, bring your pre-labeled forms
  8. Pick the diverse title you'd like to celebrate at the Shelf-Talker Swap. Write a shelf-talker for this title in advance so you are ready for the party! (No need to bring the book.) This event is a fundraiser for We Need Diverse Books, so visit the ATM before you come. (A full description of the swap is in our schedule.)
  9. RSVP for Quiz Bowl and gather up a team if you'd like to prepare your offense in advance. The raucous competition will be hosted by IndiesForward
  10. Audition your shoes to confirm which pair is the comfiest!

Exhibitors

  1. Book your sleeping room (the room block discount ends September 19)
  2. Buy your meal tickets—and drink tickets! (you aren’t a lush; you’re just efficient and avoiding lines later)
  3. Make a plan for what you want to donate to the Silent Auction, anywhere from a set of books to your entire booth contents. A HFF rep will visit you on the floor to get your decision
  4. Donate prizes to the closing reception; prizes encourage attendees to visit every participating author (email Carrie to let us know about your prizes)
  5. Participate in our backlist promotion plan. Bring a few of your bestselling backlist titles to display at your booth; use designed flags we provide onsite to let booksellers know these are your bestselling backlist titles
  6. Pick the diverse title you’d like to celebrate at the Shelf-Talker Swap. Write a shelf-talker for this title in advance so you are ready for the party! Pack some cash to donate to WNDB.
  7. RSVP for Quiz Bowl and gather up a team if you’d like to prepare your offense in advance.
  8. Make sure your authors are ready by shipping books to our Golden Valley warehouse before September 29 and asking them to attend the author education session on Thursday at 2:30 pm
  9. If you have keynote speakers, reserve a table at the front of the room and invite booksellers to join you. When you do, let us know and we will refund the bookseller’s ticket
  10. Collect your small mountain of accumulated tote bags and recycle them at the show. We will have a receptacle for attendees to leave a tote bag, take a tote bag
